Zhou Enlai in Europe

In November 1920, Zhou Enlai went to Europe on a work-and-study program. In Europe, he further studied and read Marxist works, repeatedly "inquired into and compared" various trends of thought, and finally established his belief in communism. In the spring of 1921, Zhou Enlai was recommended by Zhang Shenfu and Li Qingyang to join the Paris Communist Group, one of the eight initial groups of the CPC. Since then, he started to found communist organizations. This is the publication mainly run by him and the Charter for the European Branch of the Youth Communist Party of China drafted by him. In 1924, due to the cooperation between the CPC and the KMT, the revolutionary movements thrived in China so the European Branch of the Youth Communist Party of China decided to select a batch of cadres and send them back to China according the instruction from the central committee of the CPC. Zhou Enlai was one of the cadres. This is a photo taken in July 1924 when the members of the general branch of the KMT in France sent him off cordially.
