Since the founding of new China, Zhou Enlai had served as premier for 26 years. In order to open a path for domestic affairs and diplomacy of new China, he dealt with a myriad of affairs every day and worked hard day and night. With the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong, he actively explored a path of socialist construction suited to China's situation, organized and carried out various socialist construction undertakings in an all-round way, and devised and realized the grand goal of four modernizations. He paid great attention to and made fundamental contributions to politics, economy, diplomacy, national defense, the united front, technology, culture, education, press, health, sports and other fields. During the period of the Cultural Revolution, he bore disgrace and heavy burdens to fight against the reactionary groups led by Lin Biao and Jiang Qing, with the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries. In his last days of life, he paid attention to the interests of the whole and exerted his utmost effort to safeguard the normal operation of the Party and the country, maintained the unity and solidarity of the Party and reduced losses as much as possible. Zhou Enlai devoted himself to rejuvenating China and building a prosperous, rich and strong China with heart and soul.
