Zhou Enlai's Kang Table

In the late 1960s, Zhou Enlai became more and more busy. He often had to read and comment on documents in bed before sleep. If he worked for a long time, his arms and legs were sore and numb. Deng Yingchao felt sorry for him every time. Therefore, she designed this kang table with the staff.

You can see that its front legs are shorter than its rear legs to form a slope and there is a frame on the table. By this design, it is easy for premier to read and comment on documents in bed and the frame can prevent documents and pens from slipping off. This kang table facilitated Zhou Enlai's work. However, Deng Yingchao regretted that she designed the table soon. With the table, it was more comfortable for him to work in bed because he could take a rest immediately if he felt tired. Then, he worked longer and slept less.
